SHARE THE LOVE: VALENTINE'S DAY GOODNESS!

Welcome to Oh Penelope's 2nd Annual Share The Love extravaganza! (Hey, we had it before all those, ahem... car commercials started popping up...)

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and there is no better way to celebrate than to share the love. I’m helping my friends and clients get in to the spirit by giving out free custom Valentine’s Day E-Cards. First please become a fan of Oh Penelope Photography on Facebook (The link is at the bottom of the post). This is the only way you will be able to participate! Below are several e-card designs to choose from. Pick your fav and e-mail me (ohpenelopephotog@hotmail.com) with the following information:

SUBJECT: VDAY CARD

ATTACHED: The picture you wish to use.

1. The number of the card you have selected. (Card numbers are ABOVE each image!)

2. Names to be included on card

3. Name of the person who took your photo.

On February 8th, I’ll post all the finished cards on my Facebook fanpage. Then you can share the love by tagging yourself so it posts to your wall for all your friends and family to see. (Alternatively, you can also tag other friends/family members that you’d like to “send” your Valentine too!) As an added treat, you can download your card from Facebook and even print it as a keepsake. Easy!

Oh, and there’s a PRIZE too! This love fest just keeps on going ;) After the cards are posted the fan with the most “likes” will win a $25 gift certificate to Photojojo (one of my FAV shops!). Awesome, right? So spread the word, get your card and make sure all your friends get one too! (P.S: Anyone can receive a free e-card, no matter what your location is, No distance discrimination here! :)

Now on to the disclaimers….

*Once the e-cards are posted please DO NOT copy and save your image, and then upload it to your Facebook directly. It really benefits me and my business to have you tag yourself in my album. This is about SHARING love not STEALING it ;) When  the promotion is over you can then use your downloaded copy as you please, but a little credit is always nice.

*If your photo was taken by another photographer PLEASE let me know who, so that they can receive the credit they deserve.

*I may only take a certain amount of entries, depending on the response and how many cards I can realistically manage. So, get your submission in ASAP!)

Thanks so much everyone, and I hope you all enjoy your Valentine’s Day freebies!

Baby Drew

I was approached by another photographer a few weeks ago about an organization called Preemie Prints. They are a fabulous organization providing volunteer photographers to NICU families. (And they are always looing for volunteers... *HINT HINT photographer friends* ;). I was so excited to get the chance to be able to participate with them, and photograph little baby Drew! He was absolutely darling, and such a stinkin' cutie. Drew was born 3 months premature, and just passed his actual due date on the 24th of  December. He's up to a healthy 9lbs, and his parents are hoping he'll be able to come home soon!

(Photography Notes: These images were shot in a room with no windows, or available natural light and no flashes allowed! lol My ISO was jacked up as high as it could go, and I shot wide open 90% of the time. Thank goodness for my new 50mm 1.4- it saved the day! )

Haynes Family.

This family was so seriously sweet. I can't think a of a more perfect description than that. We did their session at good 'ol 29 Palms Inn, and explored to find a few unique spots. My favourite was the one little orange tree tucked away, all by itself. It provided us with one of my favourite images thus far :) Enjoy!

Reese Family.

Welcome to the new blog layout! I thought we need a little upgrade here at Oh Penelope, and spent a good part of the weekend giving the site a face lift. (Some of the links are not functional, and we still have some kinks to work out...but...lol) My poor Husband and daughter lost me to the depths of the web world! Haha, thank goodness my Husband is beyond understanding. Anyways... The honor of being the first family featured on the NEW layout is... The Reese Family!

This shoot was so much fun, and my client Melissa, is just as much as a prop junky as I am- so we worked great together :) She had so many wonderful ideas, and we got to do some super non-traditional portraiture. We had a dress up tea party in the desert, which was rad beyond belief.

After all the tea party fun we headed to another location for a special set of photos. The Reese's sported pink in support of the "Prayers for Delaney" campaign against childhood cancer. (Click Here for more information!)

Grier Family.

It was so hard for me to pick pictures to preview from this shoot. The Grier family gave me so many perfect candids (my FAV) and their little boy was awesomely adventurous and too cool for words! I figured out that morning time at 29 Palms Inn is spectacular. There is an abundance of pretty light, and even though the grass is dead on the front side of the pond, the back is strangely magical. It's also nice to be there in the quietness of everything and really get to enjoy my clients! We found out what a small world it really is (Especially in the Marine Corps..) and that they have previously lived in probably my favourite place in the country. Oh, Virgina, how I miss thee ;) Anyways- I can't wait to do more pictures for the Griers in the future! Enjoy!

Everetts Family.

Miss Stephanie Everetts was the runner up in our Thanksgiving referral contest! This morning I got to photograph her and her adorable family. They were all so chipper and ready to go, and their enthusiasm pushed me right through my morning grogginess! We found a beautiful little spot at the fabulous 29 Palms Inn and nestled right in. The little Everett boys were SO handsome, it was kind of ridiculous. I hope you all enjoy this charming family as much as I did :)
